A Programme of Archaeological Monitoring & Recording
Context One Heritage & Archaeology carried out archaeological monitoring and recording at Christ Church, Bradford on Avon, during Discover Christchurch!, a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) community project. The aims of the project were to explore, restore and celebrate the rich Victorian heritage of Christ Church. Improvement of facilities comprised the introduction of a new office, kitchen and toilet facilities and storage within the existing nave. The archaeological monitoring was a condition of Faculty consent, relating to the excavation of service trenches through the churchyard for new foul drainage and mains water supply to the kitchen and WC’s.
