Organ (object)
The organ in the west gallery is within a case of c.1780 with three towers of five pipes and intervening flats with curving toe-boards and curved cornices. The builder is unknown, but the case can be compared to later work by Bridge, the younger Byfield and the elder England. The instrument was originally of one manual (the present Great Organ) of eight speaking stops. The six-stop Swell Organ appears to be an addition of c.1850, and the pedal board and pipes are probably also of that period. The stops for each manual are different in style, the earlier with paper labels while the later have ivory insets with script-like lettering.
Bench (seat)
c.1740
An oak bench with moulded top and shaped end supports, c.1740.
Bench (seat)
19th Century
Two early nineteenth-century softwood open-back benches.
Pew (object)
The box pews are of fine-grained English oak, original to the church, with moulded panels and capping. The arrangement is in four blocks, with seven facing east in the western half and eight facing east in the eastern half.
Font (object)
The Font is contemporary with the church, and has an oval marble bowl upon a plain stem with a collar and gadrooned base. It still stands in the Font Pew with a bench all round; the plinth upon which it is placed is square, of stone, and the original oak cover, was salvaged from beneath the floor in 1911, and replaced.
Pulpit
The pulpit (a three-decker) with its tester and the Mayor's Pew should be considered together. In the Mayor's pew is the Mayor's Chair with solid curved back, openwork scroll cresting and a pilaster at each side. The carved arms are supported on turned pillars, and the cresting forms, at the centre, a finial above which rises the mace-rest, of wrought iron, partly gilded, with the arms and motto of the City, two putti and the Royal Cipher GR surmounted by a crown.
The pulpit is hexagonal, the ogee-curved underside with scrolly carved brackets, all built into the solid support of the staircase. The sides of the pulpit have fielded panels and moulded panels at the corners. The west-facing side is inlaid with the sacred monogram. The elegant curving staircase of ten steps has fluted balusters and a moulded handrail. The tester has geometricalinlay with a carved and gilded dove applied in the centre. Above rises an openwork-scroll hollow canopy within which is a carved anchor and serpent, the whole terminating in a carved and gilded Pelican in her Piety. It is partly supported and steadied by a chain from the ceiling.
Rail
The communion rails have a long front and return each side; they are carried on fluted balusters and have a moulded rail.
Lectern
The wooden Gothic eagle lectern is from St. Martin's.
