Altar
20th century The high altar is a table with linenfold moulding, c 1910. The chapels have a plain tables, probably late 20th century.
Reredos
20th century A mosaic panel with the Nativity, and at the bottom a brass plaque with the names of the fallen in the Great War.
Pulpit
19th century Pitch pine pulpit on a stone base, carved with intricate blind tracery panels, St Jude in a boat under a canopy, en suite wooden steps. Brass plaque records dedication by Frances B Kirby, 1894, in memory of Henry William Kirby MA, vicar of Field Broughton, died December 21st 1886.
Lectern
20th century Brass eagle, donated by Richard Hornby 1922 in memory of his sister Mary.
Font (component)
20th century Red sandstone conical font with a moulded base, perhaps c 1900. Tom Finney, the famous Preston footballer from the club’s glory years, was baptised in this. It is now situated in the south transept.
Stained Glass (window)
20th century The chancel five-light is a Te Deum window, by Jones & Willis of Birmingham, c 1905. The window was dedicated in memory of George Gallants Ducker, died December 14th 1904, by his wife Jane. The north three-light of the children’s chapel has St Michael, Virgin and Child and St George in its three lights, by Barraclough & Sanders, c 1927. Dedicated by his parents in memory of Tom Pickles, Pte of the Liverpool Scottish 1915-17 who was wounded in the Great War, and died in Brazil 5th August 1926 aged 32. The children’s chapel east window has Jesus the Light of the world and the Good Shepherd in its two lights, by J O Harris, c 1910. In memory of John Morris Bowen, 1893-1909. The easternmost window in the south aisle commemorates the fusion of the two parishes St Paul and St Jude in 1975, with symbols of the two churches in the central light, quite cleverly done.
Plaque (component)
19th century A brass plaque in the “scholars chapel” under the north window (see above) commemorates its erection by the scholars and teachers of St Paul Sunday school, the laying of the foundation stone of the church on 25th October 1890, and the church dedication in 1893 by the Bishop of Manchester accompanied by a list of worthies including Freeman, the architect.
Organ (component)
20th century The original pipe organ was got rid of some years ago. A 20-year old electric Allen organ is in use.
Rail
20th century Wrought iron with gilded scrolling, with central gates and a brass tubular hand rail, given in memory of Elizabeth Hall by her sisters Fanny and Margaret in 1919. Pitch pine rails with swing bar in the Lady chapel, probably c 1900.
